Predicted Liverpool line-up to face Manchester City in International Champions Cup

Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City continue their US tour with a clash in the International Champions Cup at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 26. So far in the International Champions Cup, both Liverpool and Manchester City have played against Borussia Dortmund and lost.

It is certain to be a hotly-contested match even though it is just a friendly. We will be eager to bounce back from the defeat to Borussia Dortmund in our last match.

With few of our stars still on their holidays and absent from contention, here is how Liverpool might line up against Manchester City.

Loris Karius (GK)

Karius has had a dismal last few months and despite committing a mistake against Dortmund, he should be in goal against Manchester City.

Nathaniel Clyne (RB)

Clyne‘s season was disrupted with a back injury but he is now back to full fitness, raring to make a mark in the pre-season tour.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

Van Dijk has been an inspiring figure in our defence and will look to keep the City attackers at bay.

Ragnar Klavan (CB)

With Dejan Lovren still on holiday following the World Cup and Joel Matip injured, Klavan has a glowing opportunity to establish himself in the first-team. He is expected to partner Van Dijk in central defence on Thursday.

Andrew Robertson (LB)

Robertson had a slow start to life at Anfield but once he got into grips, he managed to exceed expectations last season.

Fabinho (CDM)

A summer recruit from AS Monaco, Fabinho is a strong holding midfielder, also capable of playing as a right-back.

Naby Keita (LCM)

Naby Keita has impressed a lot so far in the friendlies and will look to continue in the same manner.

Curtis Jones (RCM)

Curtis Jones has starred in this pre-season, making a name for himself and could get more minutes in his locker against City.

Lazar Markovic (LW)

Markovic started for Liverpool in our opening International Champions Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund and did well. His Anfield career is under severe threat but could be in contention to start against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)

With his burst of speed, his capacity to score goals from unlikely scenarios, Shaqiri could give us a taste of his flavour on Thursday.
