Simon Mignolet

Simon Mignolet’s future at Anfield isn’t all that clear after Alisson joined Liverpool from AS Roma and the Daily Mail now claims that the Belgian keeper is a target for Turkish club Besiktas.

Mignolet’s place in the Liverpool team was already under question as the Belgian was replaced by Loris Karius as the No.1 last season. The former Sunderland man only played 20 matches for us last season and barely started since the turn of the year.

The 30-year-old last played a competitive fixture for us in January, in the 3-2 loss at home in the FA Cup to West Bromwich Albion but still made it to Belgium’s World Cup squad.

While the national side finished third, Mignolet did not play a single game in Russia and it would make sense for him to leave the Reds in search of regular football.

The Daily Mail claims the keeper is rated at £12m, which is fair value for someone who is decent at close range shots and also when it comes to saving penalties.

However, his chances of playing regularly at Liverpool are extremely low and the best option for us would be to let him leave as quickly as possible.

Barcelona was also touted as a possible destination for the keeper but he would obviously play more football at Besiktas. Barca would make him their No.2 behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen and if Mignolet intends to reignite his career, a transfer to Turkey could be a good one.
