The Evening Standard claims that Lazar Markovic is close to an exit from Anfield with two Belgian clubs interested in the Serbian.
Markovic has been unable to cement a place in the Liverpool team since his move from Benfica in 2014. The report claims that the player will be out of contract next season, with Standard Liege and Anderlecht interested in the 24-year-old winger.
The Serbian made just 34 appearances for the Reds in the 2014/15 season, following which he was sent on loan to Fenerbahce, Sporting and Hull City with varying degrees of success.
The 24-year-old was never able to fulfil his potential at Anfield and it is a little upsetting to see him leave without getting a proper run under Jurgen Klopp.
It will be interesting to see how much Liverpool demand for the 24-year-old winger but a loan deal could see him leave us on a free at the end of next season.
Liverpool have a surplus of attacking options this season and Markovic would receive get a lot of playing time at Anfield.
We could have used him in some of our cup ties, however. But spending time at another club should provide him with more opportunities to start games.

The 24-year-old could have been the next big thing for us but clearly, it didn’t work out for the Serbian at all.
