Fan rant of the day: This was the perfect time for Alisson’s error as Liverpool still lead the Premier League

It just had to happen. Out of all the players to make an error for Liverpool this season, it had to be the goalkeeper making a big error in the fourth game of the campaign.

Liverpool were given ample warning in the previous game against Brighton & Hove Albion as Alisson was caught out a couple of times and even produced a moment of audacity as he flicked a pass over the onrushing Anthony Knockaert.

There were concerns that the Brazilian would be caught out in the Premier League soon and that happened in the next game.

Against Leicester City, with the team leading 2-0 and looking comfortable, the Brazilian collected a back-pass from Virgil van Dijk

and tried to complete a Cruyff turn in his penalty box but was dispossessed by Kelechi Iheanacho and Rachid Ghezzal scored for the Foxes.

Liverpool looked a little out of sorts after conceding the goal and Alisson later claimed (h/t Sky Sports) that he would learn from his mistake.

The Reds have had their issues with Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet at the back but Alisson still looks more accomplished. The 25-year-old made a few routine saves and barring that moment of madness, he was solid between the sticks.

The best time to make the mistake

Although the Brazilian should have just lumped that back-pass onto the other end of the pitch, this mistake came at the perfect time for the team.

Liverpool head into the international break with a 100% win record and even with the mistake, we came out with all three points at one of the toughest grounds in the Premier League, the King Power Stadium.

Alisson will travel with the Brazil national side for the international break but it should give him time to think about the mistake and try to cut it out from his future games.

Playing for the national team could take him out of the torrent of abuse he might have received in the next Premier League game.

Winning at Leicester is no mean feat and even though we slacked off in the second half, the win should provide with us a lot of confidence for the rest of the season.

Liverpool have a grittiness to their playing style this season and that has been on display against the likes of Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Alisson has done his bit by making some important saves and he has already won us a couple of points this season. One magnificent save against Pascal Gross ensured we got all three points against Brighton, and the keeper did a decent job against Palace and Leicester too.

The Brazilian must learn, however, and there is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp would have provided an earful to the defence and the keeper too.

Two weeks is a decent time span to forget about this mistake and start afresh as we take on Tottenham Hotspur. Alisson just has to keep things simple and not look to become the next Neymar in the goal.

The keeper is a talent and he should let his gloves do the talking. The feet are part of the game but the saves from a keeper are more important than anything else.
