Former Man United star weighs in on Mohamed Salah’s struggles this season

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has weighed in on Mohamed Salah’s poor form since the start of the season.

The Egyptian was on fire last time around and scored 44 goals for Liverpool in all competitions. This season has seen the forward net only thrice from 11 games, and Ince believes the World Cup has had an effect on Salah

Paul Pogba has struggled to perform at Manchester United, despite lifting the World Cup with France. Ince was speaking to the Express and added that even though Salah is struggling, Liverpool could not afford to drop him.

“You can’t drop him as you need to keep those three (Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane) together.

“He was injured at the end of last season and maybe wasn’t fully fit for Egypt.

“I know Pogba was great for France but he’s not been as impressive for United.

“That could be because of the World Cup.”

Ince added that he knew what playing in a World Cup was like and how draining the tournament was.

“That could be why Salah is struggling and possibly Pogba too.”

Salah did score in Egypt’s 4-1 win over Swaziland on Friday but came off with a slight niggle. The forward could be fit for the game against Huddersfield after the international break but a week off from football might help the attacker get his groove back.

Liverpool don’t have the toughest fixtures after the international break and maybe rotating the team around will help.
