Liverpool chief executive opens up on interesting plans for Anfield expansion and more

Liverpool are contemplating submitting a new plan to continue the development of Anfield, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The report claims that the Reds have planning permission till September 2019 to extend the Anfield Road end.

Liverpool had increased the capacity of Anfield to 54,000 as the Main Stand was redeveloped, as per the report

. The demand for tickets is still at a high since we regularly sell our home games, and chief executive Peter Moore says the Reds are looking at avenues to continue the growth of the stadium.

Moore was speaking to Business Post (h/t Liverpool Echo) and claimed there are a number of steps that need to be taken before any decision can be made.

“We are looking at a range of options to ensure we have considered all aspects before making any decision.

“These include working up design, feasibility, cost, capacity and economic viability options.

“After that work is completed, and if there is a smarter design option that does not fit with the current outline planning permission, then we would submit another planning application.

“Only once we have completed this comprehensive process and come to a conclusion will it be the right time to move forward.”

Liverpool recently announced a Take That concert, which will be held in July at Anfield. The Reds are permitted to host six events a year, as per the report, and have taken a number of measures to ensure locals around the stadium are not inconvenienced by the additional events.

Moore added that these events will help the local area and businesses and these efforts support the city’s ambitions.
