Virgil van Dijk got his first Premier League goal for the Reds against Wolves

Liverpool will stay top of the Premier League table at Christmas and they should thank Virgil van Dijk for another win.

The Dutch defender was brilliant against Wolverhampton Wanderers and even notched up his first league goal for the Reds.

The game was played in atrocious conditions but the former Saints defender made no mistakes at the back as the Wolves found it had to test Alisson on a regular basis.

Van Dijk had one great moment where he actually turned on the afterburners to beat league’s fastest Adama Traore and recover possession on the left channel.

Mohamed Salah

got the opening goal of the game. The Egyptian then provider as his cross was expertly finished by the aforementioned centre-back in the second half to give us the 2-0 win.

Liverpool have 48 points from 18 games and have conceded just seven goals so far, a joint record for least number of goals conceded 18 games in a top-flight season. (tied with Chelsea)

Van Dijk defended, Van Dijk scored, and that was enough for some Liverpool fans to go crazy on Twitter.
