Naby Keita was forced off the pitch around the hour mark in our 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, adding to the injury woes. However, manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t concerned about the problem and believed the midfielder should be “fine”.
Liverpool saw off a spirited Wolves side, thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Klopp was speaking to the press after the game and spoke about the knocks Keita picked up in the game (h/t Liverpoolfc.com):
“Did you see it back the first two situations? Was it a penalty or not, because he had a proper cut on the foot and everyone said ‘diver!’, but you don’t get a cut from a dive I would say.
“Then he had another one on his ribs, so that’s obviously [why] it didn’t work out. But it should be good. Two things which are a bit painful but I don’t think will be a problem for him.”
Keita has seen more action in recent weeks. He also started in our 3-1 win over Manchester United. The Guinean international midfielder is playing on the left-hand side of a three-man forward line behind striker Salah. It is slightly different from where he used to play at RB Leipzig.
The 23-year-old is yet to shine at Liverpool after his move from the Bundesliga, but he will have more chances to impress as the festive schedule kicks in.
