Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk scored the goals in Liverpool’s routine 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Egyptian opened the scoring in the first half, and he turned provider with a cross that was turned in by Van Dijk after the break to make the points safe.
The Reds will remain at the top of the table during Christmas, and there were a number of stars who put up a quality performance at the Molineux.
Here’s how the Liverpool players fared in this Friday night’s game:
The Brazilian was in the right position at the right time to save several shots. There was one scary moment when he tried a Cruyff turn but it worked out well in the end.
The Englishman didn’t have the best night as our right-back, but he did enough to deny the threat of Jonny.
The centre-back was incredible overall. He dealt with everything defensively and even scored his first Premier League goal for the club.
Lovren made a few errors but they weren’t big enough to cost us a goal. Other than that, it was a decent performance from the Croatian.
The Scot wasn’t at his best but the got the job done on most occasions. Got away with an error late on.
Henderson was great in the midfield as he controlled the tempo and kept things ticking for the Reds.
The Brazilian assisted the opener with a smart drive down the right and kept things solid in the heart of the midfield.
It is surprising to see the Guinea midfielder playing down the left. He was good in spells but couldn’t really impact the game much.
Mane was good for the Reds as his pace and directness caused a lot of problems to the Wolves defence.
The Brazilian showed flashes of brilliance in certain moments but he was extremely inconsistent and needs to improve.
Another fantastic performance from fantastic Mo! The goal was a great flick from his left foot and he beat the Wolves defence numerous times. A fantastic assist for van Dijk to round off the performance.
Lallana came on in the second half and had a great chance to score but saw his shot blocked/saved.
The Dutchman should have scored but missed the chance to make it 3-0.
Got a few minutes late on in the game.
