Former Liverpool star believes Jurgen Klopp could sell a few players in the summer

Former Liverpool player John Aldridge believes Jurgen Klopp has done a fantastic job with the squad and extending the contracts of the key players at the club.

The Reds have been in a bit of an overdrive securing the futures of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold recently.

They all penned contract extensions and with more clarity regarding the squad, Aldridge believes Klopp could sell a few players that aren’t in his plans.

The former Red was writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo (h/t Express) highlighting the “clarity” with regards to the squad:

“The new contracts for Liverpool duo Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are fully deserved.

“We have had a lot of deadwood over the years, but now there’s clarity in the squad. There are a number of players on long-term deals, and there are youngsters also coming through.

“Jurgen Klopp might look to move on three or four in the summer.”

Aldridge claimed this was a favourable condition for Liverpool and compared that with Everton who have a lot of deadwood in the side thanks to Marco Silva coming in and replacing Sam Allardyce.

The former Liverpool star believes Klopp now has to replace the players that aren’t required with better players.

Aldridge is right in saying that the manager has done well in revamping the Liverpool team. Since the German arrived players such as Mario Balotelli, Joe Allen, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Christian Benteke have all left for decent sums.

We have a side that is in tune with Klopp’s style and should see some quality signings in the summer when squad players such as Alberto Moreno or Daniel Sturridge leave.
