Anfield legend believes this one factor will help Liverpool in the Premier League race

Liverpool legend John Barnes claimed the Reds can deal with the pressure of the Premier League title race, thanks to Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds missed out on a chance to open up a seven-point lead over Manchester City on Wednesday. Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City while the Cityzens had surprisingly lost to Newcastle United.

Talking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast (h/t Liverpool Echo), Barnes claimed both Liverpool and City would drop more points as the season goes on.

The former Liverpool player claimed that this was a point gained, and believed that Jurgen Klopp can help the Reds regarding any pressure they feel at the top:

“The pressure isn’t necessary going to show now, there’s still a long way to go. The pressure really comes into focus around March.

“But I think the Jurgen Klopp factor is very important – he really takes every game as it comes, the pressure is to perform in every game, he puts demands on those players to give 100 per cent every time. So I think they’re able to handle the pressure.”

Klopp too wasn’t too upset with the result and it was great that we didn’t lose to a Leicester side that had already beaten Chelsea and Manchester City this season.

The Reds hold a five-point lead, but City have some tough games coming up. It will be interesting to see how we respond to the draw as we travel to the London Stadium on Monday.

West Ham are another side that are inconsistent, but we have to be at our best to collect three points against the Hammers.

We beat them easily at the start of the season, but cannot take them lightly.
