Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has denied the Reds will move for Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne.
The 27-year-old Italian has scored 13 goals in all competitions and has six assists too. The Independent reports that Insigne has been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea, but Klopp isn’t interested in moving for the forward.
Speaking before the game against Huddersfield, the German added that the Italian is a great player but Liverpool don’t have big plans in the summer (h/t Independent):
“We will not sign Lorenzo Insigne.
“He’s a very good player, and he has a long term contract at Napoli. We will not even try it.
”Will it be the biggest transfer window for Liverpool? No.”
Insigne’s Napoli have been knocked out of the Europa League and are second in the Serie A behind champions Juventus.
The German has always been coy about the transfer dealings at Liverpool since taking over from Brendan Rodgers.
Most of our signings have come from out of the blue such as the ones of Fabinho and Alisson this season.
Insigne would be a wonderful addition to the side and speaking about any transfer before the window opens would put it at risk.
Virgil van Dijk’s move to Anfield proved that we can make a mistake as the Reds apologised to Southampton before getting their man last January.
We have one of the best attacks in football and adding a player of Insigne’s ability would provide us with ample scope to mix things up.
