Everton scout Carlo Jacomuzzi believes Liverpool could sign two Kalidou Koulibalys, thanks to the money made from last season.
The Toffees scout was speaking in an interview with Radio Marte and his quoted were carried by AreaNapoli (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds have been linked with Napoli’s Koulibaly and clubs in the Premier League’s top six are also interested in the 27-year-old.
Jacomuzzi doesn’t believe that Manchester United would be able to sign him, but provided a stark warning to other clubs if Liverpool got the centre-back (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Manchester United is a pitfall these days. City? If Guardiola makes a decision, they buy. Napoli want €130m? In England, there are four team who can pay that amount.
“Liverpool? They’ve won so much from the Champions League, from the money from the federation and their sponsors that they can buy two Koulibalys. It would be a disaster for the others, having to find a way to go through that defence.”
Liverpool already have a fantastic defence led by Virgil van Dijk, and Koulibaly partnering the Dutchman would possibly make it the best centre-back pairing in the world.
However, the Liverpool Echo adds that the Reds are unlikely to spend huge if they are going to sign the Senegal international.
Joe Gomez had an excellent first half of the season last time around and Joel Matip did extremely well when the English defender was injured.
Van Dijk seems to bring out the best of the players around him, and we could be even tougher to get by in defence next season.
