The Express claims that Lille attacker Nicolas Pepe is a target for Liverpool.
The Ivorian winger enjoyed a fantastic season with Les Dogues as they finished second in Ligue 1. Pepe also scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in the league campaign last time around.
The Ivorian should feature in the African Cup of Nations in the summer, however, Bild journalist Christian Falk believes Bayern Munich will not move for the 24-year-old.
The expert claimed that Leroy Sane is the prime target for the Bundesliga champions and they have other targets on their mind too.
Speaking to Get German Football News, Falk was asked about Bayern moving for Sane, and the expert revealed that they have a B-list that the Bundesliga giants do not want to dip into (h/t Express):
“Also, there is the German option, [Julian] Draxler, or [Timo] Werner is an option to play on the wing.
“Pepe – they scouted him a lot of times, I know that the board had said no to a transfer because he’s not the quality of Bayern Munich, but if they don’t get any winger, perhaps they have to rethink Pepe But I would say no.”
The report
adds that Manchester United are also keeping tabs on Pepe, who is one of the best players in Ligue 1.he Reds were busy in the summer last season, however, things have been quiet so far this time around.
Liverpool don’t need many additions given the quality of the side under Jurgen Klopp.
However, we could do with another world-class attacker joining and providing competition to our front three.
