Sport reveals that Liverpool are interested in German left-back Philipp Max.
The report claims that Barcelona are in the market for another left-back, with Jerome Roussilon also linked with the Catalan giants.
Max had a decent season with the Bundesliga side, racking up four goals and providing two assists from 30 league games.
The 25-year-old is valued at €20m (h/t Sport) and is versatile enough to play as a midfielder or a winger too.
The report adds that negotiations with Barcelona are advanced, however, the German has caught the attention of Liverpool too and the Catalans are facing a lot of competition for Max.
The Reds need cover for Andy Robertson next season after the exit of Alberto Moreno. Max’s versatility would be great as he would provide cover for several positions.
The 25-year-old could be one of the smarter signings under Jurgen Klopp as we have seen with Andy Robertson. The German would not be a first-team starter at Barcelona or Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see if he is willing to leave the Bundesliga.
Klopp knows the German league well, and that could work in our favour if we target Bundesliga players.
The Reds are also holders of the Champions League title and are set for more silverware in the coming seasons.
