Liverpool haven’t made any big-name signings this summer as compared to last season.
The only signing we have seen is that of Sepp van den Beg from PEC Zwolle, and the youngster made his debut in the 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon.
Jurgen Klopp has handed several youngsters the chance to impress in pre-season, with many first-teamers away on breaks.
Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Rhian Brewster have all done well, and Klopp believes that one of them is a great talent.
The German backed Brewster to do well in the upcoming season, and was not hiding his expectations on the 19-year-old (h/t Metro
):“I love the boy, he is fantastic player. Why should I play it down?
“Rhian Brewster is a top striker, he is a top talent and I have told him already that he has an important role this year – but how important depends on him.”
The 19-year-old found the back of the net in the pre-season games, but he has suffered several injury problems over the past 12 months.
Liverpool have sold several strikers in recent months, with Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings moving to Premier League clubs.
Daniel Sturridge left the club this summer after his contract expiry. Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino are the two senior strikers we have on our books, and Brewster should get some minutes for the team next season.
The 19-year-old is one of the brightest talents we have in the team, and it will be interesting to see how he performs under Klopp.
