Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Liverpool will get the better of Manchester City this season.
The Reds narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season despite amassing 97 points.
Liverpool also lost just one game in the season but ended their season on a high by lifting the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp has transformed the side since taking over from Brendan Rodgers, and we were incredible last season.
The former Liverpool star claimed that Klopp turned things around for the Reds to help them win the Champions League and says that it should help us this season. Writing in the Daily Mail (h/t Liverpool Echo), he claimed:
“After missing out on the Premier League title by a single point to Manchester City, he re-motivated his players and made sure they did not miss out on being crowned champions of Europe.
“That was Klopp’s first trophy with the club and I suspect more will follow this season – including the Premier League title.
“I expect this year’s race to be as tight as the last but I have a feeling that Liverpool could pip their rivals to it.”
The Reds are one of the best teams in the world and it will be interesting to see how they perform this season.
The Champions League win was Klopp’s first title since taking over at the club, and we would have won the league easily had it not been for Manchester City.
The Reds have the chance to start the season with a bang as they face Norwich City in their first Premier League game of the season.
City have strengthened their side this season but lost influential captain Vincent Kompany, while the Reds did not lose any of their first-team players.
The Reds cannot give an inch in the title race next season and hopefully, we can pip City to the crown.
