The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds will not allow Ryan Kent to leave the club on loan this season.
Reports from Scotland (h/t Liverpool Echo) had suggested that Liverpool and Rangers had struck a deal where Kent would join on loan with an option to make the deal permanent later.
However, the Liverpool Echo claims no such deal has taken place and the Reds had placed a price of £12million on the winger.
Kent enjoyed a great campaign last season under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox where he won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.
The English youngster also featured in some of our pre-season games in the summer but is unlikely to get much playing time at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp also stated that the time for loan deals is over with Kent and it is to be seen if Rangers can get the funds to sign the 22-year-old.
The transfer window for Scottish clubs ends on 2nd September and we can sell players to foreign clubs until then.
The 22-year-old doesn’t seem to have a future at Anfield and it makes sense to sell him now rather than send him out another loan spell.
That could see his value decline should he have a poor season, and it will be interesting to see if our stance works out in selling the player.
