Jurgen Klopp expects to take a break from management after the end of his Liverpool tenure.
The German led us to the Champions League title last season and narrowly missed out on the Premier League too.
Liverpool have started the season well with three wins from three games and won the UEFA Super Cup by defeating Chelsea.
The German is contracted with the European champions until 2022 and was asked by Kicker if he would take a break after his Liverpool stint.
The manager claimed that he would but said that he could be back after a year away from the game (h/t ESPN):
“It looks like it. Who can now say if he can give it his all in three years’ time?
“If I decide for myself that I can’t go on anymore, I’ll take a break and in that year I’d have to make a definite decision [if he wants to continue at all].
“I have absolute energy, but I have one problem: I can’t to ‘a little bit.’ I can only do ‘all or nothing.’
“But the chances are very high that my energy levels will go up again [after a year’s break], and that I can then do the job the way I want to.”
The German took a bit of a break after his Borussia Dortmund tenure, which also came after seven non-stop years in management.
His other stint at Mainz also ended after seven years and should he see out his contract with us, that would be another seven-year cycle.
Klopp has done a great job since joining the Reds and it would be a huge blow if he does leave. The German transformed the club and we are one of the best in the world.
However, things can change in three years and a ton of success could change the German’s mind.
Liverpool have a lot to play for in the upcoming seasons, and the target has to be to win the Premier League.
