The Athletic (h/t Express) claims that Liverpool chose to sign Fabinho over other Premier League midfielders Lucas Torreira and Jorginho.
The report claims that the Reds were tracking Fabinho since 2013 and moved for him because of his physicality.
The Brazilian has been excellent for Liverpool since his move from Monaco, and is possibly one of the best defensive midfielders in the game.
Torreira has done well at Arsenal but doesn’t have the ball skills like Fabinho while Jorginho has struggled at Chelsea since his move from Napoli.
The Brazilian was a surprise signing for the Reds last season and came just after losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid.
Fabinho took time to adjust to Jurgen Klopp’s style and was slowly bedded into the team.
The Brazilian is now one of the best players in the team, and no one can do a similar job in the heart of the midfield.
Fabinho has also spent time as a centre-back during his time at Liverpool but the Brazilian started his career as a right-back.
Out of the three midfielders, Fabinho seems to be perfect for the system that Liverpool deploy, and we should see more good work from the midfielder this season.
