Jurgen Klopp responds to pundit’s claims about overplaying Sadio Mane

Latest Liverpool news: Klopp responds to Carragher’s criticism regarding Mane usage

Sadio Mane hasn’t had much rest since last season as the Senegal star returned to action after just three weeks in the summer.

Mane played in the World Cup last year and took part in the Africa Cup of Nations this summer. The forward helped Senegal reach the final of the AFCON but lost to Algeria.

The 27-year-old featured in the opening day win over Norwich as he came off the bench and looks to be in great form.

Jamie Carragher brought up Klopp’s usage of Mane while writing for the Telegraph and claimed that the German is “reluctant to leave him out and let him have a rest” (h/t Express).

Klopp was having none of it and fired back at Carragher and claimed Mane would be fine (h/t Express

):

“I would love to hear Jamie Carragher if I had left Sadio out.

“The punditry is a world-class business – I have to think about if I don’t do that after my career, because you can say whatever you want and you always put a finger in something.

“I think if I am 100 per cent right then Sadio doesn’t have to go away on international duty with his national team after Burnley which will help him, and then after that we have a full week to prepare the next opponent.”

The manager added that the team was monitoring the situation of all the players and made decisions about playing them.

Liverpool have durable players in the attack

The front three of Liverpool seem to be extremely durable and the staff knows when to play them and when not to.

The trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Mane has been excellent since the start of the season, and they seem to be in better sync than last season.

The goals are flying in and it will be interesting to see how we do against Burnley next week.
