“We’d be lost without him” – Robertson names this Liverpool star as one of the most important in the team

Latest Liverpool news: Robertson heaps praise on Firmino and claims we would be “lost” without Brazilian

Roberto Firmino isn’t a typical centre-forward who batters the defence with his physicality or lurks in the box looking to tap in the goal.

The Brazilian has a different role in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, and there is no one in the world who could do a better job than the former Hoffenheim star.

Firmino harries the opposition, presses them constantly, links up well with the two wide-men, creates chances, drops back to start attacks and scores goals too.

He is the ultimate professional too and showed his best in the 3-0 win over Burnley. The Brazilian set up the second goal before scoring the third.

Firmino became the first Brazilian to score 50 Premier League goals and Andy Robertson showered praise on the 27-year-old.

“With his work rate, his technique, his goals and his all-round play, I don’t think there’s anyone like him.

“People will say there are better strikers, but for me what he does is so important to our team. We’d be lost without him. He’s world class.”

Firmino at his best

The Scotland captain highlighted all the defensive work the Brazilian does for us. Robertson added that Firmino doesn’t always put up the work in training, but he leaves that for the match days:

“He’s a good trainer; he perhaps doesn’t work as hard as he does in a game, but he saves it for a Saturday.

“The work he puts in during games is probably more than any other striker in the world.”

Liverpool do look out of sorts without Bobby in our 4-3-3 system, and that is why we tried to play a 4-3-2-1 with Mohamed Salah leading the line last season.

Robertson is spot on in suggesting that no one else could do the job that Firmino does for us, and the Brazilian seems to be in great form us at the moment.
