Liverpool move up to eighth in UEFA’s coefficient rankings for 2019-20

Liverpool’s Champions League win from last season has moved them up to eighth spot in UEFA’s coefficient rankings for 2019-20.

The Red defeated Tottenham 2-0 thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi and exorcised some of the demons from the loss at the hands of Real Madrid around 16 months ago.

The Liverpool Echo

reports that the Reds are now ranked eighth, up from 11th place in the previous campaign.
Jurgen Klopp lifts the Champions League trophy

Liverpool returned to Champions League football a couple of years ago, and Jurgen Klopp has done a wonderful job in helping us become European powerhouses again.

This will be our third consecutive Champions League season, and we should be one of the favourites to win the competition again.

Surprise names above the Reds

The rankings help in determining a club’s seeding and revenue distribution during the competition.

These are determined thanks to the performance of the club over the past five years in the Champions League, and the report adds that the top three are all Spanish sides.

Real Madrid lead Atletico Madrid and Barcelona while Bayern Munich come fourth and Juventus come fifth.

The surprise is seeing Manchester City in sixth and PSG in seventh position. Both are yet to win the Champions League while Arsenal are in ninth spot, despite not featuring in the competition last season or in this one.
