Why Jurgen Klopp has to be careful choosing his goalkeeper against Manchester United
Liverpool’s Premier League campaign could not have gone any better. The Reds are the only unbeaten side in the division and have won all their games.
Manchester City
Our neighbours, Everton, are flirting with relegation while Manchester United are in the bottom half of the table.
Liverpool haven’t been hurt by the absence of Alisson since the start of the season, with Adrian doing a fantastic job in place of the Brazilian.
City might have had their problems in the defence but losing Alisson for a couple of months could have been a disaster.
The keeper has a couple of weeks to keep working on his fitness, and Jurgen Klopp hinted that Alisson could return for the Reds against Manchester United (h/t BBC).
Bring Alisson back into the side slowly
Had Adrian struggled in goal, a case could have been made to rush Alisson back into the first-team. However, the Spaniard has improved his kicking and distribution since joining and has been one of the stars of the campaign.
The former West Ham keeper is great in one-vs-one situations and has made several brilliant saves already.
Alisson would be a little rusty once brought back, and starting him against Man United would be a huge ask for a returning keeper. There is no doubting his quality but the safer option would be to play him against Genk in the Champions League after the Old Trafford clash.
Liverpool cannot take it easy against United as they have been struggling too, and keeping Adrian in goal wouldn’t be a bad decision to take.
The Reds shouldn’t drop silly points at the moment, and the Red Devils are there for the taking. Liverpool have several big games after the Old Trafford clash, and our Brazilian keeper can be brought into the team after that game.
The international break will provide Klopp with a lot of time to ponder over his selection for the United game.

This Liverpool machine is far from broken and doesn’t need too much tinkering. Hopefully, we don’t rush Alisson back and slowly reintegrate him into the team instead.
