UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body have fined Liverpool and FC Salzburg for incidents during our 4-3 win over the Austrians in the Champions League (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The crazy game saw us lead 3-0 in the first half before Salzburg made a great comeback to level the scores.
Mohamed Salah got the winner and the Reds were a little lucky to get the points as Salzburg were great.
The Reds had lost their opening Champions League game at Napoli and needed to get three points at Anfield. However, the Merseysiders have been fined €10,000 after a fan had jumped past the advertising hoardings after the final whistle (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The report claims that the fan got Andy Robertson’s jersey before being caught by the stewards.
Salzburg were also fined for their part in the game as fans threw objects onto the pitch. The Austrians will have to pay €3,250 but the Liverpool bit is a concern (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Although the incident with Adrian in the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea wasn’t at Anfield, the Spaniard could have been seriously injured.
A fan came running onto the pitch after Adrian’s penalty heroics and slid into the huddle of players who were celebrating.
We were lucky that he wasn’t out for long but something has to be done for the protection of the players.
Pitch invasions can turn out to be dangerous and hopefully, the security is tightened and the fans aren’t allowed onto the playing surface.
