“I feel good” – Boost for Klopp as key Liverpool star declares fitness ahead of Man United clash

Joel Matip declares himself fit to face Manchester United

Liverpool star Joel Matip is ready to face Manchester United on Sunday. The Cameroon defender hasn’t featured in our last two games after picking up an injury against Sheffield United.

Matip has been incredible alongside Virgil van Dijk since last season and returned to training earlier this week.

The 28-year-old’s return is a huge boost for our defence and he provided an update on his fitness (h/t LiverpoolFC.com

“I’m back in training and hopefully I will stay fit. I’m back in training and I feel good. Of course, if I’m needed, I will be there.

“Injuries [happen] to a player. Now I’m back, I hope I stay fit and I can focus on the positives.”

Liverpool need to keep things tight at the back

United should be no match for Jurgen Klopp’s men after eight games of the season. The Reds have a 100% winning record in the Premier League while the Red Devils lie just two points above the relegation zone.

However, these games aren’t always decided on form and we have to keep United’s attack in check. The Reds haven’t been at their best in the defence, but Matip’s return should give us more confidence to nullify United’s attack.

Liverpool could end the weekend 11 points clear at the top should Manchester City also lose.

Our attention has to be on the job at hand and given United’s struggles, we should have enough in the tank to return from Old Trafford with all three points.
