Liverpool released a statement today after a High Court judge ruled in favour of the club and dismissed New Balance’s move to remain as the kit manufacturer.
The Americans are in the final year of their contract but fought hard to keep hold of the Reds as their clients.
Nike had agreed on a five-year deal with the Reds in principle but New Balance believed they could match the offer from their rivals due to a clause in their contract (h/t Liverpool Echo).
However, Mr Justice Treare passed the ruling in favour of the Reds and also rejected New Balance’s right to appeal (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Reds were pleased with the verdict and released a statement regarding the same (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Liverpool FC is pleased with the Judge’s decision to rule in favour of the Club following the legal dispute with our current kit supplier, New Balance.
“We will continue with New Balance for the current season, in combination with preparing next season’s Liverpool kits with our new supplier.”
The Liverpool Echo adds that Nike were willing to offer stars like Drake, LeBron James and Serena Williams in the deal.
It will be interesting to see what type of kits are created, with the Reds having agreed on the designs for next season (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Nike have
also invested in the upcoming kits, with £6million spent on fabric for the new jerseys (h/t Liverpool Echo).Souness warns Liverpool regarding the Klopp favourite uncertain future amid Arne Slot arrival Liverpool legend…
