German journalist Raphael Honigstein has suggested that Timo Werner would do well at Liverpool.
The RB Leipzig striker has been excellent for the Bundesliga side over the years and recently signed a new deal with the club.
The 23-year-old has started this campaign in brilliant form too. Werner has eight goals for Leipzig this season and has been a regular for the German national side.
Honigstein was speaking on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast and explained why Werner would do well at Anfield (h/t Express):
“Absolutely (he would perfectly fit Liverpool). I think he would be the ideal supplement to the front three.
“He is very similar in terms of his movement, in terms of his positioning to what they’ve already got. Different player. More of a striker than perhaps Salah.”
The journalist was also “surprised” why the Reds never pushed for the 23-year-old in the summer window.
The Leipzig star can play across the front line and would provide great cover for our attackers.
Divock Origi is great coming off the bench but he still needs to do more when starting games.
Rhian Brewster and Harvey Elliott could come good soon but Werner is the finished article. The 23-year-old will improve under the management of Jurgen Klopp, and our manager has worked wonders with several players in recent years.
Roberto Firmino could do with some quality cover too and it will be interesting to see what moves are made in the upcoming transfer windows.
