Liverpool target Max Clark distances himself from talks of Anfield move

23-year-old left-back Max Clark has distanced himself from rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

The defender currently plays for Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie, and has reiterated his desire to stay in Holland.

Liverpool journalist Paul Gorst also shut down any speculation regarding the player who had been linked with a move to Merseyside.

Clark too was dismissive of the links, describing them as just rumours at this stage.

It’s nice to be linked to them. I think everyone would be happy with these teams. It’s great, but it’s rumours.

I don’t want to play there either, because I want to go into Europe with Vitesse. So I don’t do anything with it.

With Andrew Robertson the only senior specialist left-back at the club, James Milner has had to step in as a backup whenever required. Clarke, who recently featured in a line-up assembling the statistically best-rated English players, has been touted as the top choice to be the Scotsman’s understudy. (h/t Sky Sports

Clarke’s contract at Vitesse runs until the summer of 2021, having joined the club from Hull City in 2018. The defender has made 18 appearances for Vitesse this season and has scored one goal while assisting thrice. (h/t Whoscored)
