Former England goalie urges West Ham to sign this Liverpool defender

Paul Robinson urges West Ham United to sign Nathaniel Clyne

Robinson believes it is a perfect deal for all parties involved if the defender is to move on this month.

“It could be perfect, it could work for both sides, just because he’s been out for so long,”

Injuries since have led to his fall from favor. This coupled with the rise of Trent Alexander Arnold, has seen Clyne make just 10 appearances for the club in the last 2 years.

Clyne has also found himself behind Joe Gomez in the pecking order, so much that Klopp was fine with the player being sent on loan to Bournemouth in 2018.

West Ham could do with a signing at right-back with a hamstring injury ruling out Ryan Fredericks for a month.

The emergence of Neco Williams at right-back at Liverpool will have pushed Clyne further down the pecking order.

Robinson believes that Clyne will only be a bit-part player at Anfield and should move to West Ham to resurrect his career.

“He’s clearly not going to get in the Liverpool team, he’ll be a bit-part player at most, and if he does want to play this year then it could be a move that works for both sides.”

Clyne suffered an ACL injury in the pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund. Klopp stated that the player is doing well now but isn’t available for selection, prior to the win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Clyne’s contract at Liverpool expires in the summer and the Reds would rather sell the player in January than lose him for a free in the summer.
