Liverpool fans were surprised to know that the team’s bus was vandalized by West Ham United fans following the match between the teams last week. (h/t Standard)
The London club and police are working together to identify the fans involved in the incident. Objects were thrown that the bus which resulted in a window being smashed. Thankfully, no players or staff were injured.
West Ham have threatened to hand out life bans for anyone involved in the incident (h/t Standard).
The incident has sparked off comparisons to when the Manchester City bus was attacked outside Anfield. The attack took place prior to the Champions League quarter-finals first leg which Liverpool win 3-0.
Much was made of the incident, with City fans and players crying foul. It was a condemnable act and nothing of the sort has been repeated by the Reds fans since.
This incident, however, came as a complete surprise considering Liverpool’s lack of comments prior to the report (h/t Standard).
Liverpool fans took to Twitter to express their views on the matter. Many of them chose to focus on the double standards of how this incident has been perceived with respect to the incident outside Anfield.
