Kai Havertz tops Jurgen Klopp’s transfer list for the summer
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made Kai Havertz his primary transfer target for the summer window, according to Express.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is considered as one of football’s brightest prospects. Havertz will command a figure in excess of the club record £75 million the Reds paid for Virgil van Dijk.
Still just 20, Havertz has already made 131 appearances for Leverkusen and has scored an impressive 33 goals from midfield. The youngster has made 24 appearances this season and has notched up five goals and two assists. (h/t Whoscored)
Liverpool sees the player as an important addition and will seek to fend off interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United to land him.
Former Red star to make the difference?
Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho could have a say in Havertz’s future according to former German skipper Michael Ballack.
The Brazilian ace has failed to impress at Barcelona and is currently on loan at Bayern Munich. Coutinho has scored 7 goals and 8 assists in 27 appearances for the Bavarians. (h/t Whoscored)
Bayern can choose to activate the option to buy Coutinho when his loan expires in the summer. Barcelona have told Coutinho that he can leave the club in the summer for £77m.

Liverpool midfielders such as Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum turn 30 next season while James Milner is in the final years of his career. Hence, it will become necessary for the Reds to rebuild their midfield in the coming years.
Whether Liverpool can negotiate an agreeable deal for Havertz remains to be seen.
