Liverpool midfield star sets new target amidst best goalscoring run at the club

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opens up on best individual season at Liverpool

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has impressed since his return from injury.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals for Liverpool this season. This is his best season since moving to Anfield, but the player is not happy and hopes to improve further, according to his interview with the Mirror.

Although he admits that it is his best goalscoring season, he believes he should be scoring more. He also went on to say that he has the perfect base and team to be able to do so.

“I haven’t scored enough, I need to get more numbers”

Liverpool are looking at a record-breaking season and have experienced loss just thrice. The club’s morale is high and the squad is intent on getting even better. This philosophy has also rubbed off on the Englishman who is keen to do his best for the team.

The midfielders revealed that he will not look back at this season as one of immense personal improvement, but rather look to build upon it and do more.

He, however, conceded that he has improved with respect to earlier and now gets more time on the pitch. Oz is currently enjoying a spell in the starting XI having started six games in a row. He compared

his playing time to his past at Arsenal where he never achieved such a prolonged run.

Reflecting upon his upbringing, Ox goes on to speak about how he has been brought up with the drive to be the best and never be satisfied with where he is.

The midfielder has referred to Jordan Henderson’s ability to stay grounded despite lifting the European Cup. He describes the Liverpool skipper as a driven personality who is only focussed on the next thing.

“He won’t ever let himself get carried away. He’s just so driven, focused on the next game and the next thing.”
