“Why me?”: Jurgen Klopp comes up with a classy response when quizzed about coronavirus

Jurgen Klopp endears himself to rival fans with coronavirus response

Liverpool fans love Jurgen Klopp. The charismatic manager is a fan favourite at Anfield, given his charisma and humorous quips. The German now looks to have added to his fans from other clubs following his candid comments on the coronavirus outbreak. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

The disease has now reached at least 40 countries since it was first detected in China late last year. The UK now has 85 confirmed cases, with one of them on Merseyside.

The outbreak of the virus has led to a spate of sporting events across Europe being cancelled – including a number of Serie A matches over the weekend. Questions regarding the organization fo the Premier League have been called into question as the virus threatens to disrupt sporting events across Europe.

The Liverpool manager was asked about the situation following the FA Cup loss to Chelsea and did not take kindly to the question.

The German insists that he is not the right person to be asked that question as he isn’t qualified to make an educated response. Klopp went on to add that the opinion of popular figures does not count.

He went on to insinuate that it is pointless asking him about topics he isn’t informed. There are a number of people qualified to answer such questions and the reporters are better off asking the experts about them to get the proper response.

“I don’t understand that. Politics or Coronavirus. Why me?”

Klopp insisted that the prevailing crisis is indeed a matter of concern before once again going on to add that his opinion about the matter is not important.

“I wear a baseball cap and have a bad shave. I’m concerned as much as you, maybe less. I’m not sure. I don’t know exactly your amount of being concerned, but my opinion is really not important.”

The 52-year-old went on to add that he will follow the directives made by the authorities regarding the issue as they have a better understanding of the concern than him.

“I live on this planet and I want the planet to be safe, healthy, I wish everybody the best.

Klopp’s responses went down well with a number of rival fans, who came out in support of the Liverpool boss’s views.

There is currently no such rule in the Premier League handbook on what happens next should a campaign be brought to a premature end. Any assumption at this stage is merely hypothetical.
