“I have to show the results”: Liverpool new boy opens up on tough start to life at Anfield

Takumi Minamino still adapting but hungry to contribute at Liverpool

It has not been a good couple of months for Takumi Minamino. The Japanese playmaker was over the moon having made a dream transfer to Liverpool. Things have not gone according to plan as the midfielder is still getting to grips with the English game.

The 25-year-old will be the first to admit to his struggles and the need for improvement. He did exactly that as Liverpool prepare to face Bournemouth at Anfield. According to Liverpoolfc.com, he asserted that he is hungry to score and assist more goals in the coming matches although he feels he has done well in some quarters.

“I would love to contribute more to goals and assists – I’m feeling very hungry about that.”

Minamino admitted to becoming more familiar with Jurgen Klopp’s philosophy with every passing day while continuing his steady improvement.

No excuses, only intent!

Minamino refused to lay blame on his lack of playing time or experience in the league as excuses for his poor performances. He stressed the need to contribute positively on the pitch in order to gain the trust of his teammates and fans.

He reiterated his wish to give his best every day as he is eager to contribute to the team. The midfielder went on to say that he cannot wait to play a more proactive role while he strives to fully understand the team.

The Japanese star admits that his chances may be limited but is determined to repay Klopp’s faith in him.

“I only have limited chances but when the manager needs me, I have to show the results of the manager’s expectations.”

Liverpool take on Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday as the Reds look to bounce back after two losses in a row. Minamino added that the team is determined to make up for the recent disappointments and are eager to take the pitch to set things straight.

He believes that in spite of the bad results, the morale in the dressing room remains high and that the team are focussed on playing and winning the next match.

“We are never negative, we all think about winning the next match.

He also spoke of the atmosphere at Anfield and stated that he expects the crowd to play a major role

“This good atmosphere would be a huge help for us. Support at Anfield is always encouraging players. on raising the Reds’ game.

He praised the supporters for their continued backing of the team and credited them to fill the stadium with positive energy and help the squad overcome this difficult situation.

It is reassuring to see the player speak openly about his shortcomings as it shows a sense of self-realization that can be used as fodder for improvement.

Minamino also seems to know where he lacks and is determined to rectify them. With an attitude like that. it won’t be long before the Japanese international is firing on all cylinders.
