The enforced break due to the coronavirus has given footballers plenty of free time. Andy Robertson made use of such time to organize a Q and A on Twitter as he answered a number of questions from fans.
One such question revolved around him facing off against teammate Virgil van Dijk back when the duo was playing in the Scottish Premier League. When asked who came off better in a one on one tussle, Robertson responded he did before adding that he kept the Dutchman at bay all game.
He also went on to add that Van Dijk was the one teammate he wouldn’t want to face as the Dutch colossus would head all of his crosses clear. Given the 28-year-old’s track record, one cannot fault Robertson for knowing when to pick his fights.
In a twist of events, Van Dijk too responded to the same question and revealed that he had, in fact, ended up nutmegging his future teammate. A straight, no-nonsense answer by the Dutch skipper. Just like his defending.
The interaction was well received by the fans who took to Twitter to express their amusement. With no football in the foreseeable future, a number of players have taken to social media to interact with fans. Robertson’s effort was one of the best as it was both insightful and funny in even proportions.
We would like to think Robertson is telling the truth and he indeed had the Dutchman in his back pocket. Such a big pocket would explain how the Scotsman manages to keep attackers at back every week.
They have been two of Liverpool’s best signings in recent times and have thoroughly strengthened two key weaknesses in the Reds defence. The Merseysiders have gone from being defensively unreliable to one of the best defensive teams in the league.
Liverpool fans got more than what they bargained for, as the duo is a class act both on and off the pitch.
