Andy Robertson names this Liverpool legend as his idol growing up and it is least surprising

Andy Robertson admits he looked up to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard growing up

Former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has left an underlying impact at the club. It looks as if his impact on the Anfield side continues to take shape even years after he left the club.

Marauding left-back Andy Robertson revealed that Gerrard was his idol growing up. The 26-year-old admitted to the fact in a Twitter Q and A organized by him on the popular social platform.

Alongside Thierry Henry, Gerrard inspired Robertson to rise through the ranks. He is today one of Liverpool’s best players and one of the best left-backs in the world.

Andy Robertson looked up to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard

It is not the first time that the Scotsman has admitted to the fact. Back in an interview in 2015, he admitted to the same. Robertson played for Hull City back then and was a relative unknown. He made the move to Liverpool in 2017 and has gone on to establish himself as a top dog in his position.

A compatible duo indeed

Both Liverpool fullbacks play a pivotal role in Jurgen Klopp’s system. Their significant contribution at both ends of the pitch is a pivotal reason for the team’s recent success.

Both of them share a good rapport on and off the pitch. This understanding shows on the pitch as they are constantly seen making passes to each other. One another thing they share in common is their footballing hero.

Trent Alexander-Arnold also sees Gerrard as his hero and hopes to emulate the former star’s success at Anfield. Having come up through the Reds youth system, he had previously thanked Gerrard for inspiring him in his journey.
