Jude Bellingham chooses Manchester United over Liverpool
Manchester United have not been able to beat Liverpool both times this season in spite of their best efforts. However, they look to have gotten the better of us in the race for talented Birmingham City player Jude Bellingham.
According to the Daily Star, the 16-year-old has chosen to overlook a move to Liverpool and will join Manchester United or Borussia Dortmund instead. One of the most in-demand youngsters in world football, he had also commanded interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.
Ed Woodward has made landing the wonderkid a priority and is willing to sanction the £30million required to secure him.
The youngster is keen on making a move to either Manchester United or Borussia Dortmund. United hopes to convince the player to sign by offering him a bumper £100k-a-week contract. A far cry compared to the £150 he makes per week now. He cannot officially sign a contract until he turns 17 on June 29 this year.
Dortmund does have a history of developing youth. It remains to be seen if the youngster chooses to take the path of England’s current golden boy Jadon Sancho and make the move to Germany.
A special talent
Bellingham has made 35 appearances for Birmingham this season and has scored four goals and three assists. A versatile player, the youngster is capable of playing anywhere in the midfield, with him predominantly playing in the middle and on the right.
At 16 years and 38 days, he became the youngest player in Birmingham history and has also represented the English youth sides at the Under -15, Under-16 and Under-17 levels.
We move on!
Although it is a disappointment to miss out on the best names in the market, we have our own talented crop of youngsters coming through. The likes of Harvey Elliott, Neco Williams and Curtis Jones have become household names this season. Under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, they will only improve in the coming years.
