Premier League planning to complete the remainder of 2019-20 season behind closed doors

Football.london (h/t Liverpool Echo) reports that the Premier League is planning to resume the 2019-20 campaign from July.

They hope to finish the remainder of the season within a span of four to six weeks, and the matches will be played behind closed doors.

Premier League football was suspended until 30th April due to the coronavirus outbreak. Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi were two big names that contracted the virus, though they have recovered recently.

While there are still rising numbers in the UK, a conference call took place between the FA, the PL and the Football League.

The report says that a plan has been reached to ensure that the games can be completed from July. There is also the possibility that cup competitions are removed from next season’s schedule to ease the burden on the 2021-22 campaign (h/t Liverpool Echo

Hope for the Reds

Liverpool seemed set to win their first Premier League title before the suspension of the league. However, this report will be a positive message as we should be set for the title when the league resumes.

The Reds are 25 points clear of Manchester City and we have just nine more games to go. A couple of wins will guarantee the title for Jurgen Klopp’s men, but the priority now is to keep people safe.

Hopefully, the virus can be contained and things slowly return to normal across the world. The priority for all has to be safety and health during these troubling times.
