Jurgen Klopp spoke to Michael Edwards about Philippe Coutinho’s possible return to Liverpool

Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho faces an uncertain future even with the current season suspended, according to the Mirror.

The 27-year-old left us to join Barcelona in the middle of the 2017-18 season. However, he was unable to cement his place in the team and was shipped off 18 months later.

Bayern Munich won the race to land him on loan, but the Mirror

adds that Liverpool were also speaking with Barcelona about the signing of Coutinho.

The Brazilian was a star under Jurgen Klopp and the boss spoke with Michael Edwards over a return. The Catalans wanted £8million as a loan fee and wanted the Reds to pay Coutinho’s £250,000-a-week wages too (h/t Mirror).

Coutinho ended up at Bayern Munich, but another club was keen on him.

We weren’t the only Premier League side keeping tabs on the talented Brazilian. Daniel Levy wanted to sign the Brazilian star too (h/t Mirror).

However, that deal failed as then Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino didn’t want Coutinho in the team (h/t Mirror

Coutinho is still in the same boat as he was at Barcelona. Bayern aren’t interested in making the move permanent despite Coutinho having a decent campaign for them (h/t Mirror).

Liverpool didn’t make any big signings at the start of this season, and it will be interesting to see what our plans are for the summer transfer window.

We could do with more attacking options but for now, the season is suspended until April 30. The coronavirus pandemic has become a menace in most countries around the world, and dealing with that is more important than anything else.
