Troy Deeney backs Adam Lallana to improve Man United squad
Adam Lallana will be a free agent in the summer. Although 31, he will be a solid addition to a number of sides in the English top-tier.
Liverpool Football Club are miles ahead of arch-rivals Manchester United at the moment. The Reds are not only the reigning European Champions but are also on course to regaining their domestic crown for the first time in thirty years.
Jurgen Klopp has built a formidable Liverpool team that is better than our rivals both on and off the pitch. This contrast was summarized beautifully in the buildup to the clash between the two teams this summer.
A combined XI from both the teams showed Liverpool players occupying all eleven spots and not many would have had an issue with it. Troy Deeney has now gone further and insisted that even Adam Lallana could make United a better team.
The 31-year-old will be on the move once his contract expires in the summer. According to The United Stand (h/t Manchester Evening News), Deeney has backed Lallana to improve the majority of the teams in the premiership, including United.
“He’d be in the squad and 100 percent he improves the squad. Lallana can play anywhere across the front line.”
A potent player!
Deeney went on to add that 90% of the clubs in the top-tier could do worse than the 31-year-old who stills packs a punch in spite of his advanced age.
A versatile attacker is a who can play anywhere along the frontline. He showcased his adaptability as he continued to make a name for himself from a deeper role this season.
Lallana is one of the Reds’ longest-serving players in the current roster. Initially a regular under Klopp, injuries have taken a toll on him and severely restricted his ability to shine in recent seasons. In his six seasons at Anfield, he has made 178 appearances and has scored 22 goals and 22 assists.
United have focussed on signing young, talented, British players in the past few windows. Over 30, Lallana is on the wrong side of the age group to command strong interest from Old Trafford. (h/t MEN)
We, however, agree with Deeney’s assessment. Lallana is still a quality player. The fact that he does not make the Liverpool XI shows how far ahead we are compared to United.

Lallana is no stranger to scoring at Old Trafford. He came off the bench to score a late equalizer for Liverpool this season. His strike helped us maintain our unbeaten start to the season. He has also scored at the Theatre of Dreams for Southampton earlier in his career.
