Jurgen Klopp opens up on chaotic video chat and paying for Zoom

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up on life in lockdown as he attempts to stay on top of things while away from his team.

With the German unable to interact with his players in person, the conference call app Zoom has become the preferred mode of communication. The Reds have been making use of the app to arrange meetings and also schedule remote training sessions.

With the football world in limbo, there is uncertainty as to when the season will resume. The anxiety will be greater for Liverpool fans, given we have waited 30 years to be where we are today.

The Reds need just six more points to guarantee the first league title since 1990. Had the pandemic not played spoilsport, we could have already been crowned champions by now.

In spite of such uncertainties, neither the player nor the staff has let the situation get to them. The players have been in regular touch with each other and are keeping their spirits high while staying isolated.

Interacting remotely isn’t always easy but it has helped the team stick together. This has not been lost on the German tactician.

He has described the initial days as chaotic, with players coming online before the scheduled time. They are all familiar with the setup now and the sessions go ahead with minimal fuss.

In spite of doing so from the comfort of their home, there is no let-off especially with respect to punctuality. Anyone logging in late ends up paying.

“Too late in a Zoom session means you have to pay”

Klopp admitted that technology today is what makes such an occasion possible. Had it occurred in the 1980s, it would not have been possible to do so.

“Imagine if we would have had that in the ‘80s or something like that, it would have been really crazy.”
