Lazio interested in Liverpool star Divock Origi

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Serie A giants Lazio have shortlisted Liverpool striker Divock Origi as a potential transfer target this summer.

The 25-year-old Origi joined Liverpool in 2014 from LOSC Lille and spent a year on loan at the French club. After having failed to make much of an impact at Anfield, the Belgian was loaned out to Vfl Wolfsburg for the 2017/18 campaign.

Upon returning, Jurgen Klopp integrated him into the first-team at Liverpool. And while he was hardly a regular, Origi came up with some very important goals for us, including one in the Champions League final against Tottenham.

After his heroics, Origi signed a new contract with Liverpool, extending his stay at the club till 2024. However, the Belgian wasn’t able to replicate that form in the season gone by. In 42 appearances in all competitions, he came up with a return of six goals and four assists.

Given that he is not a regular starter at Anfield, clubs seem to be looking to capitalise on it by trying to sign him this summer. And Lazio, as per the report, have identified the Belgian as one of the potential targets to bolster their attack. The Italian giants’ other targets include Real Madrid’s Borja Mayoral and Aston Villa striker Wesley.

Interestingly, Origi has also been eyed by as a target by Villa themselves.

Origi may not be the most prolific strikers going around, but has been a handy backup option. He still has four years left on his current contract with us. And should the club decide to offload him, we should be able to bag a significant transfer fee.
