Liverpool to sell three players to fund £40m move for 22-year-old African ace

Liverpool will sell three players to fund £40m Ismaila Sarr move

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Watford are demanding a transfer fee of £40m for Liverpool target Ismaila Sarr. This could force the Reds to sell three players in order to generate funds for the move.

The 22-year-old Sarr joined Watford only last summer from French club Stade Rennes. While the Hornets ended up getting relegated, the Senegalese winger emerged as one of the few bright spots for the club.

Ismaila Sarr impressed in his debut PL season

Sarr finished his debut season in England with a handy return of six goals and six assists in 30 appearances across all competitions. The Senegalese international saved his best display of the season against us, playing a key role as Watford ended our unbeaten run in the Premier League.

With Watford relegated, rumours over his future have been making the rounds quite a bit. Liverpool are reported to be one of the biggest suitors of Sarr in the ongoing transfer window. And, the Hornets are now demanding a transfer fee of £40m for his signing. (h/t Evening Standard)

Funding a move for the winger might be a problem for the club, as per the report

. And, Jurgen Klopp may have to let go of three players in order to generate the necessary dough to make a move for Sarr. The three players that are likely to face the axe are Xherdan Shaqiri, Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic. (h/t Evening Standard)

Shaqiri played a bit part role last season and his loss wouldn’t be a major blow for the club. Wilson, on the other hand, impressed on loan at Bournemouth. However, he is keen on playing regularly and the Reds are prepared to sanction a sale for £20m.

Grujic, too, spent the last season out on loan at Hertha BSC. Given the options at Klopp’s disposal, is unlikely to find a place in the side for next season. So, offloading him makes sense for the club. It is being claimed that the three sales could fetch us over £50m, helping the club fund a move for Sarr.
