Brighton insist Liverpool target Ben White not for sale
According to a report from the Metro, Brighton & Hove Albion are remaining firm on their stance that defender Ben White will not be sold this summer, amid interest from Liverpool.
The 22-year-old centre-back is a product of the Brighton youth academy. White has previously had loan spells away at Newport County and Peterborough United. But it was the last season when he truly shone bright, during his temporary stint with Leeds United.
White played an integral role as Marcelo Bielsa’s side achieved promotion to the Premier League by virtue of winning the EFL Championship. One of the best defenders in the second division in 2019/20, White has naturally attracted a lot of interest.
Indeed, Leeds are keen on signing him permanently, while Chelsea too have expressed an interest. Along with these two sides, Liverpool, too, were believed to be keen on signing the 22-year-old Englishman. (h/t Metro)
Having lost Dejan Lovren, who left for Zenit St. Petersburg at the end of the 2019/20 season, we are in need of reinforcing our backline this summer. More so, considering the injury history of Joel Matip. White, to that end, would have been a fine acquisition, considering his age and potential.
However, as per the report, Brighton & Hove Albion have absolutely no intentions of selling their prized asset this summer. In fact, the Seagulls are reported to have multiple offers from Leeds United already and will not entertain any bids for White. (h/t BBC)

White still has two years left on his contract with Brighton, with the club retaining the option of extending by a further twelve months. So, that does put them in a strong position as far as negotiations are concerned.
A central defender is a must this summer for us to build on our triumph last season. However, it seems like White may not be the one we end up signing.
