Liverpool unwilling to meet Thiago Alcantara’s €30m asking price

According to a report from The Guardian, Liverpool are interested in signing Bayern Munich midfield superstar Thiago Alcantara this summer. However, the Premier League champions are unwilling to meet the Bundesliga giants’ €30m valuation for the Spaniard.

The 29-year-old Thiago is in the final year of his contract with the German champions. The report claims that he is seeking a new challenge in his career and is keen on joining Liverpool this summer, as he is an admirer of the style of play of Jurgen Klopp’s team. (h/t The Guardian

Bayern, though, are reluctant to lose him and will only let him go should any interested party meet their valuation of €30m of the midfielder.

Thiago signed for Bayern Munich from La Liga heavyweights Barcelona in the summer of 2013. During his time at the club, the 29-year-old has grown into one of the best central midfielders in the game, winning a host of titles and trophies along the way.

Given his quality and proven pedigree, he would, without a doubt, be an excellent signing for us. However, there are doubts as to how he will fit into Klopp’s system.

There have been contrasting reports on Liverpool’s interest in the midfielder. Some claim that the Reds are very much keen on signing Thiago, and have already made contact with Bayern for the transfer. (h/t Mirror)

Bayern, who are in the semi-finals of the Champions League, have put transfer talks on hold until their season is over. It remains to be seen if there is any truth to the claims of Liverpool’s interest in Thiago.
