According to German publication BILD (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin are keen on signing Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic after having had the Serbian on loan for two years.
Grujic joined Liverpool from Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) in January 2016, and was immediately loaned back to the Serbian outfit till the end of the 2015/16 season.
However, having failed to make an impact at Anfield, he was sent out on loan to Cardiff City in January 2018, following which there back-to-back loan spells at Hertha in the last two seasons.
Back at Liverpool after the 2019/20 campaign, Grujic has joined his Liverpool teammates in the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria. It is said that manager Jurgen Klopp will take a call on his future after assessing him over the course of the pre-season camp.
Hertha remain interested in signing him, this time on a permanent transfer, after two loan spells. The report claims that Grujic is valued at around £13m
.Since joining the club, Grujic has managed to make just 14 first-team appearances
for us. His ability to play in a multitude of roles in the middle of the park do make him a handy squad player to have. However, given the options that Klopp has a plethora of options at his disposal in the centre of the park, it is unlikely that he may be a regular at Anfield. Considering that he still has three years left on his contract, the club can surely demand a higher transfer fee from Hertha for his sale.
It will be interesting to see if Klopp does find a place for the Serb in his plans or decides to cash in on him.
