Report: Liverpool ‘scared’ by PL club’s €70m valuation of key transfer target

Liverpool ‘scared’ by Wolves’ €70m valuation of Adama Traore

According to a report from Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Birmingham Live), Liverpool have been ‘scared’ by Wolves slapping a €70m price tag on wing-wizard Adama Traore.

Traore signed for Wolves from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, in a deal worth £18m. After a rather underwhelming debut season at the Molineux, he burst into life in the 2019/20 campaign, emerging as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.

Adama Traore is a tank of a player

The 24-year-old ended the 2019/20 season with an impressive return of six goals and twelve assists from 54 matches in all competitions. Traore caught the onlookers eyes with his pace, power and directness, something which will fit in very well into the scheme of things at Anfield.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old for a while now. Understandably so, considering the lack of quality backup for our first-choice attacking trident of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

The likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi weren’t effective enough this past season. And for us to be able to build on our Premier League triumph, strength and quality in depth is a must. Traore, to that end, would have been a fine addition.

However, as per the report, Wolves are demanding €70m for their prized asset, which has left the club ‘scared’. Again, it doesn’t come as a surprise, with manager Jurgen Klopp already claiming that big money deals are unlikely to happen this summer.

The report further adds that Traore has been offered to Serie A champions Juventus, who are also balking at the winger’s price-tag. As a result, it does seem increasingly likely that the Spaniard might end up staying put at Molineux.
