According to the Daily Express, Liverpool are not prepared to pay Watford’s £40m asking price for 22-year-old winger Ismaila Sarr.
Liverpool’s inactivity in the transfer market this summer shouldn’t be viewed as a lack of intent. Despite the incomparable strength the club showed as the runaway leaders in the division last time out, achieving the same again this season will not be an easy task.
The gaffer’s desire to use this summer window to strengthen his squad has been no secret. but the Coronavirus situation has seemingly takes it’s toll. One of the few players that the Reds are still linked with is Sarr.
Chelsea striker Timo Werner was high on Klopp’s agenda for the summer window. But the inability to produce the required funds within the provided time-frame came as a hitting blow. (h/t Express)
Still on the lookout for an alternative after missing out on the German’s signature, Sarr is being viewed as a potential replacement. The Reds’ interest is heavily boosted by the fact that Sarr scored twice for Watford in their 3-0 win over the eventual champions back in February. (h/t Express
)The biggest worry for the gaffer will be the rate at which our rivals have been strengthening. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham have all made multiple additions to the team. Liverpool’s only one remains that of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas.
Sarr was touted to be one of the rising stars of the Premier League last season. For all the quality that we’ve got, the addition of a direct and dangerous winger like Sarr could help take our attacking-roster to tie next level.
The lack of depth in the front-line has been one of the biggest problem areas. And Sarr would be a one-stop solution for most of the concerns.
