“I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very, very happy to be here. When the years are passing, you are trying to win as much as you can – and when you win, you want to win more. I think this club describes what I am as well; I want to achieve all of the goals, win as many trophies as possible.”
The 29-year-old Thiago is a product of the world famous La Masia academy at Barcelona, where he came up through the ranks with players like Cristian Tello and Sergi Roberto.
Having finally made it into the first-team picture after successfully manoeuvring the lower levels, the Spaniard wasn’t used regularly. And, the Spaniard ended up signing for German giants Bayern Munich back in 2013.
Having now spent a full seven years at the club, Thiago’s decision about the next step in his career has brought him all the way across the channel to Merseyside. In the seven years he was at Munich, he won the Bundesliga each time, while also securing the Champions League trophy last season.
Liverpool have paid Bayern just £5m up front for the signing with the rest of the £15m being paid over the course of his contract – plus £5m
of potential add-ons. (h/t Express)Thiago will be donning the No.6 jersey at the club and is reportedly eligible to make his debut against Chelsea this weekend. So, we may not have to wait all that long to see the Spaniard in action for the club.
